1 October 2026 - Starling Bank has supercharged its savings offering with a 5.00% AER (4.87% gross) variable rate on its Easy Saver for new Personal and Student account customers*. The industry leading rate applies for 6 months on balances up to £25,000, with remaining balances up to £1,000,000 benefiting from the 2.50% AER (2.46% gross) variable standard rate. Interest is paid monthly and no minimum balance is required.

Customers can open multiple Spaces within their Easy Saver, all paying the same rate, so they can separate savings for different goals such as for a holiday, wedding or emergency fund. Each Space can be personalised with names, images, emojis and automatic transfers to help incentivise saving and customers can withdraw whenever and as often as they like with no fees or penalties.

“Our Easy Saver is designed to help people meet their financial goals and develop healthy saving habits. We’re offering this industry topping rate to show people that saving money can feel good - as does banking with Starling,” said Bernadette Smith, Chief Customer and Banking Officer at Starling.

The rate is made up of a 2.50% AER (2.46% gross) variable standard rate and 2.50% fixed AER bonus rate for 6 months. After 6 months, balances will continue to earn interest at the variable standard rate. New customers must open a Starling current account from 1 October 2026 and must apply for an Easy Saver within 30 days of joining Starling.

Existing Starling customers with a Personal, Student or Joint account can benefit from a 4.00% AER (3.92% gross) variable rate when opening a new Easy Saver, which includes a 1.50% fixed AER bonus for 6 months on balances up to £25,000**. After 6 months, balances will continue to earn interest at the variable standard rate.

Starling’s savings rate boost follows a number of initiatives to help customers be good with money, with the bank rolling out new AI tools weekly that help customers better budget, spend and save, and launching a student bank account that gives customers the chance to win a year of tuition fees on Starling.

The bank also offers a Fixed Saver*** that pays 4.20% AER/gross and a Cash ISA that pays 2.50% AER (2.46% tax-free) for those wishing to maximise their annual tax free savings allowance ****.
